A still from upcoming movie Sui Dhaaga |
Mumbai, September 05, 2018 (Team Online News India): Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan have given it all for Sui Dhaaga – Made in India. The superstars play innocent village folk Mauji and Mamta living in heartland India and it was essential for both these actors to travel to some remote areas to bring authenticity of look and feel to the film. Small towns do not have swanky hotels and as soon as Varun and Anushka were made aware of the situation, they were more than happy to live in the accommodation available in small towns – small guest houses.
“We wanted to make a film that looks as authentic as possible and we went to shoot in really interesting locations. The trailer of the film is getting so much love because Sharat (Katariya) and Maneesh (Sharma) have ensured that we make a genuine film that touches people’s hearts. From day one we are on board to shoot in these locations that are gorgeous and beautiful and add so much purity to the narrative,” says Anushka.
Varun adds, “For us, making this film as genuinely, as authentically as possible was more important than where we were staying. We lived extremely comfortably and we blended with the milieu of the location and became the characters that we were playing. We had a great time living in these towns and making so many new friends. The locals were lovely. They showered so much love and affection and care. For us, it is a film whose memory will be always treasured.”
While Anushka plays an embroiderer in YRF's entertainer Sui Dhaaga – Made in India, Varun plays a small town tailor. Together they dream of a better future for themselves by using their skills to become self-reliant. Sui Dhaaga brings together National Award winning producer-director combo of Maneesh Sharma and Sharat Katariya after their blockbuster Dum Laga Ke Haisha. The film is a special salute to the inherent entrepreneurial spirit that the youth of India and our local artisans have.
Varun and Anushka have been paired for the first time together and they have definitely become the most-awaited on-screen jodi of 2018. Sui Dhaaga - Made in India is set to release on September 28 this year, just before Gandhi Jayanti.
