Mumbai, October 16, 2018 (Team Online News India): Mariam Khan – Reporting Live, which brings forward the unfiltered and untamed innocence of young child Mariam (played by Deshna Dugad), is all set for a 10 year leap. Taking the story ahead, talented actor Mahima Makwana will be playing the grown up Mariam in an absolutely new and distinct identity. Post leap there will be renowned actors joining the star cast and one of them being the veteran actor Anju Mahendru is known for essaying varied characters in Bollywood and television over the past few decades. A complete departure from her previous outings of a polished, urbane characters, Anju will be seen portraying a supercool, bindaas, bedhadak Beeji, who rides a bike, a never before seen on Indian television!
Excited about her character she shares, “I instantly agreed and jumped with joy when this role was narrated to me as it’s a far cry from the quintessential beeji’s being shown on the television so far. ..she is flamboyant, a firebrand who takes charge of the situation like a pro instead of a demure, sulking ones . I am really excited as I have not attempted anything like this before and gives me an immense scope to perform and surprise the viewers. As an artist one needs to keep on experimenting and trying out new challenging characters to avoid complacency and I am really glad that this role came my way. I am thoroughly enjoying depicting the quirkiness, peculiar traits and mouthing the dialogues in a Punjabi dialect!“
Interestingly, her character Beji will make a smashing entry on a bike in the show “It’s one of the most interesting aspect of Beeji’ personality, and viewers will be surprised to see me in this avatar. It was such a thrill to ride a bike and I am trying my level best to pick up the ways to operate the bike while on the shoot to look at ease during the shoot. I hope with my performance of Beeji with a distinct characteristics, will be a new change in perspective on television. I have never ever attempted anything like this before so was really nervous that how will I pull it off in a short span of time. But while shooting the bike sequence I followed the instructions on the set in terms of how to handle the machine, and other details as in how to manage the speed and other minute operational aspects to go with the pace of the moving camera. My main aim was to try out something different and make it look effortless on screen. I hope audience will enjoy my new avatar. Anju is all the more excited as it will be her reunion with actor Mahima Makwana with whom she shared screen space in the show Chakravyuh, where she played her grandmother.” It is fun to reunite with actors with you share amazing rapport, and our banter on the show will entertain the viewers to the core.
